Job Description:

• Clinical Assessments & Therapy: Conduct psychological evaluations, design intervention plans, and deliver individual and trauma-informed group therapy.
• Crisis Support & Follow-up: Provide immediate crisis intervention and conduct ongoing follow-up sessions for graduates.
• Program & Capacity Building: Develop mental health programs and train staff/stakeholders on trauma-informed care.
• Multi-disciplinary Support: Collaborate with house staff, social workers, and educators to ensure holistic participant care.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate clinical records and report on participant progress.
• Other tasks as assigned from time to time

Requirements:

• Qualifications: Master’s in Psychology/Clinical Psychology (with 1 year placement) or Bachelor’s/HND in Psychology or Counseling with supervised clinical training.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of supervised counseling experience with youth/adolescents (experience with trauma survivors preferred).

Skills & Attributes:
• Fluency in English and Sinhala (written and spoken).
• Experience with trauma-informed approaches.
• Proficient in MS Office, G Suite, and digital tools.
• Female candidates preferred (due to the sensitive nature of the demographic).

In October 2024, BConnected initiated the “BEmpowered” programme to enhance employment opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs) in collaboration with the GIZ – Vocational Training in Sri Lanka Project. The one-year pilot project adopted a dual approach, focusing on preparing candidates through skills development and placement support, while guiding employers to establish inclusive hiring practices, addressing key gaps in the disability employment landscape in Sri Lanka.

Through this programme, 47 young persons with disabilities were provided with training free of charge, in Soft Skills, Personality Development, functional English and basic IT, to enhance employability skills. The trainees included those with vision impairments, hearing/speech impairments, physical disabilities and little persons. Over 30 trainees have been connected to employment opportunities in the corporate sector.
